NFL week 7 picks

Movie Quote of the Post:

“Pardon my French, but Cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you’d have a diamond.”

– Ferris Bueller, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

Week six record: 8-6 (57.1 percent)
All-time record: 53-38 (58.2 percent)

Here are all the match-ups in the NFL for week seven:

Teams with byes:

Chicago (2-4)
Cincinnati (6-0)
Denver (6-0)
Green Bay (6-0)

Tonight:

Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Seattle (2-4) vs. San Francisco (2-4)
Levi’s Stadium
Santa Clara, Calif.
Line: SEA -6.5

A few years ago, these teams once ruled the NFC West. Now they’re at the bottom, how times have changed. Seattle gave up a fourth quarter lead for third time this season last week against Carolina. San Francisco has actually played well the last two weeks. The Seahawks aren’t the same team on the road. This is a big rivalry, I’m going to take the upset and pick the 49ers.

Prediction: 49ers 27, Seahawks 23

Sunday:

Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Buffalo (3-3) vs. Jacksonville (1-5)
Wembley Stadium
London, England
Line: BUF -4

It’s the second NFL game in London this season. Buffalo was handled by Cincinnati last week at home. Jacksonville continues to play like a usual Jacksonville team. Buffalo has alternated wins and losses every week this season. The Bills are due for a win going by their track record. They’re the better team than the Jaguars. I think Buffalo wins.

Prediction: Bills 27, Jaguars 17

Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston.
Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston.

Tampa Bay (2-3) vs. Washington (2-4)
FedEx Field
Landover, Md.
Line: WAS -3

Both of these teams have struggled this season. I’ve always said that I don’t think Jay Gruden is much of a coach. He’s continued to prove me right since becoming the head coach for the Redskins. Tampa Bay has the better quarterback and head coach. I like the Buccaneers to win in a close one.

Prediction: Buccaneers 26, Redskins 21

Tennessee head coach Ken Wisenhunt.
Tennessee head coach Ken Wisenhunt.

Atlanta (5-1) vs. Tennessee (1-4)
Nissan Stadium
Nashville, Tenn.
Line: ATL -4.5

Atlanta suffered their first loss of the season last week at New Orleans. Tennessee keeps letting me down ever since week one. I think Tennessee has the better head coach. However, Atlanta has the better roster, and definitely has the better quarterback. I think the Falcons win comfortably.

Prediction: Falcons 34, Titans 21

New Orleans head coach Sean Payton.
New Orleans head coach Sean Payton.

New Orleans (2-4) vs. Indianapolis (3-3)
Lucas Oil Stadium
Indianapolis, Ind.
Line: IND -4.5

New Orleans got a nice win against Atlanta last week. Indianapolis looked like a much improved football team despite losing to New England. I’m not sure I can picture the Saints going into Indianapolis and beating Andrew Luck. I think the Colts get the win.

Prediction: Colts 30, Saints 20

Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford.
Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford.

Minnesota (3-2) vs. Detroit (1-5)
Ford Field
Detroit, Mich.
Line: MIN -2.5

Minnesota has been a pretty good team this season. Detroit finally got their first win of the season last week against Chicago. The Vikings have the better head coach and roster. Minnesota has a good enough defense to slow down Matt Stafford and Detroit’s offense. I think Minnesota will win the game, but it’ll be close.

Prediction: Vikings 24, Lions 19

Pittsburgh linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
Pittsburgh linebacker Lawrence Timmons.

Pittsburgh (4-2) vs. Kansas City (1-5)
Arrowhead Stadium
Kansas City, Mo.
Line: PIT -3.5

Pittsburgh is coming off a big win against Arizona. Kansas City is not the team I thought they’d be this season. The Chiefs have struggled all season. It’s still uncertain if Ben Roethlisberger is going to play for the Steelers. I’m putting my money on that Roethlisberger sits out another game. I don’t think Landry Jones will be able to go into Arrowhead Stadium and win this game. I like the Chiefs.

Prediction: Chiefs 23, Steelers 20

St. Louis running back Todd Gurley.
St. Louis running back Todd Gurley.

Cleveland (2-4) vs. St. Louis (2-3)
Edward Jones Dome
St. Louis, Mo.
Line: STL -7

Cleveland is typical Cleveland; they’re not any good. St. Louis is the better team by a mile. They have the better roster, better quarterback, and better head coach. If Cleveland finds a way to win this game then I need to reevaluate the Rams. I don’t think it’ll happen though. I think the Rams win comfortably.

Prediction: Rams 27, Browns 14

Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Houston (2-4) vs. Miami (2-3)
Sun Life Stadium
Miami, Fla.
Line: MIA -4

Houston hasn’t looked like a good football team this season. Miami hasn’t looked much better before they beat Tennessee last week. The Dolphins finally looked like the team I expected them to be this season. I think they can be able to build off that, there’s too much talent on their roster. I think Miami wins.

Prediction: Dolphins 23, Texans 17

New England tight end Rob Gronkowski.
New England tight end Rob Gronkowski.

New York Jets (4-1) vs. New England (5-0)
Gillette Stadium
Foxboro, Mass.
Line: NE -10

New England has looked like the best team in the NFL so far this season. I don’t like it, but I’ll admit that the Jets have looked like a good team. If the Jets were the home team, I’d probably pick them. The Patriots are the much better team, and I think they’re going to remain undefeated.

Prediction: Patriots 31, Jets 17

Oakland head coach Jack Del Rio.
Oakland head coach Jack Del Rio.

Oakland (2-3) vs. San Diego (2-4)
Qualcomm Stadium
San Diego, Calif.
Line: SD -4

Oakland is an improved team from last year. San Diego came close to pulling off an upset last week against Green Bay. I think the Chargers are the better team than Oakland. I’m not sure the Raiders can slow down Philip Rivers enough to win. I think they’re going to be ready to play for this game. I like San Diego to win this game.

Prediction: Chargers 27, Raiders 20

Dallas linebacker Sean Lee.
Dallas linebacker Sean Lee.

Dallas (2-3) vs. New York Giants (3-3)
MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, N.J.
Line: NYG -3

Dallas is trending in the wrong direction. The Cowboys are really suffering from the injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. Even when those players were healthy for Dallas, the Giants came close to beating them in week one. Now the Giants get to play Dallas at home. The Giants didn’t play well on Monday against the Eagles, but I think they’re going to win this game.

Prediction: Giants 22, Cowboys 17

Monday:

Arizona defensive end Calais Campbell.
Arizona defensive end Calais Campbell.

Baltimore (1-5) vs. Arizona (4-2)
U of Phoenix Stadium
Glendale, Ariz.
Line: ARI -10

Baltimore had a bad loss to San Francisco last week. Arizona is still one of the best teams in the league despite losing to Pittsburgh. Baltimore is 0-3 this year when they have to travel to the west coast. I don’t expect that to change this week. I think I’m officially off the Ravens bandwagon. I’m taking the Cardinals to win.

Prediction: Cardinals 33, Ravens 23

Game of the Week:

Carolina running back Jonathan Stewart.
Carolina running back Jonathan Stewart.

Philadelphia (3-3) vs. Carolina (5-0)
Bank of America Stadium
Charlotte, N.C.
Line: CAR -3

Philadelphia is coming off a nice win against the Giants on Monday night. Carolina has been flying under the radar this entire season. The Panthers are a very good football team. The Eagles are starting to show that they’re getting the pieces together and will start winning games. However, I don’t think it’ll be this one. I like the Panthers to win in a great game.

Prediction: Panthers 24, Eagles 23
